Last Sunday, in a beautiful and moving ceremony, 50 discharged soldiers received a $2,000 USD scholarship to Jerusalem’s Hebrew University in memory of Yitzhak Rabin.
Since Rabin’s death in 1995, the family of Sam and Gene Rotberg have annually donated 50 scholarships to discharged soldiers attending Hebrew University.
The scholarship both commemorates Yitzhak Rabin and assists discharged soldiers pay for their college tuition. The scholarship is given in cooperation and partnership with the Hebrew University under the auspices of Yahad-United With Israel's Soldiers, the only Israeli government approved organization to care for Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier welfare.
Starting the next academic year, the scholarship will be awarded as part of the "Uniform to University" program established in cooperation Yahad-United for Israel's Soldiers. This program awards scholarships to discharged IDF soldiers for them to gain a college degree.
We warmly welcome donations to this program. Every donation demonstrates the deep appreciation for the years of dedication young men and women gave to the State of Israel as soldiers. Donations towards the "Uniform to University" program are
always needed and appreciated as this program is envisioned to be ongoing indefinitely
