This considerable sum was donated in the past 5 years and allotted to several educational projects of the IDF :
* High School Diplomas for combat soldiers.
* Education of soldiers from an underprivileged background and giving them a vocation.
* Cultural Sundays for soldiers.
The Libi Fund reports that they have raised donations totaling about NIS 32 million during the past 5 years for educational projects of the Education and Youth Corps of the IDF.
Since the year 2003, donations raised have been allotted to the major projects of the Corps, especially strengthening the Corps' leading project- "Education of soldiers from an underprivileged background and giving them a vocation", " Mechtzavim Heritage ", "Cultural Sundays for soldiers", "High School Diplomas for combat soldiers" and "Witnesses in Uniform".
"This is a considerable contribution by all accounts", summarized the Acting Commander of The Libi Fund, Lt. Col. Raanan Simhi.
"Due to these funds thousands of soldiers were able to report to their army bases with a smile on their faces".
The Libi Fund was founded in 1980 by the then Prime Minister, Menahem Begin, and the Chief of Staff, Rafael Eitan. The Fund is an army unit run by a few officers and soldiers. Libi raises funds for many army projects, mainly for the Medical Corps and the Education and Youth Corps, thereby strengthening the IDF.
The budget for the project, "High School Diplomas for combat soldiers" has grown considerably in the past year. Since its beginning and to-date, the sum of
NIS13 million has been raised for this project.
" Without the assistance of Libi, this project could not have continued and would have ended some 5 years ago", remarked Major Drori Rozemarine-Goldig, the officer responsible for organizing fund-raising events of The Libi Fund.
The program "Witnesses in Uniform", whereby commanders of various ranks visit concentration camps in Europe was also allotted since 2003 a total sum of
NIS 5.6 million. The project "Cultural Sundays for soldiers" has received to-date about NIS 2 million from The Libi Fund.
Libi also allots money for the absorption of new-immigrant soldiers and for educational courses held at the "Havat Hashomer" Base.
